Junior Travel Teams
CAVC travel volleyball teams run each year from December through the spring. The exact end date depends on the team level. CAVC offers travel teams within three team levels - Club, Power, & Elite. Team levels vary in competition level as well as time and financial commitment. You can read about the different team levels here. All teams will have a head coach and an assistant coach.
Tryouts are required for placement on travel teams. Typically, CAVC travel team tryouts are held over a weekend in August or September. Tryouts consist of TWO days - a Saturday and a Sunday. Both days are mandatory for team placement. You can read more about tryouts on this page. Pre-registration for tryouts is required and opens on Friday, June 20, 2025.
CAVC teams practice in private schools, public schools and community gyms. Players will work on individual skill development while also getting game experience. Practices usually include one weekend practice and 1-2 weekday evening practices.
Teams will travel to tournaments on the weekends. The number of tournaments and distance from Charlottesville will be dependent on the team level. Our 2025-26 tournament schedule is now available.
Travel teams are a significant time and financial commitment for athletes and their families. You can read more about the financial commitment here. Please make sure you understand the commitment prior to trying out, as any athlete offered a spot on a team is expected to follow through with their commitment to the team and the club for the entire season. If you are looking for lower commitment opportunities, we offer developmental programs for boys and girls each season as well as summer camps and pop-up clinics.
