Individual Skill Work + Conditioning Clinics

Cost: $50 per clinic
CAVC is hosting a series of individual skill work & conditioning clinics this spring for boys and girls who are confident in their fundamentals and looking to refine their volleyball skillset. Athletes will participate in warm-ups, skill work, and conditioning at each clinic. Individual clinics will have a specific focus, and athletes can register for one or more as their interest and availability allows.
Pre-registration for clinics is required. Each session has a limited capacity. Should a clinic reach capacity, a waitlist will be opened. You can sign up for one or more clinics using the registration link at the bottom of the page. Each clinic costs $50.
Coach Walter Spurlock will run these spring clinics. You can read more about Walter in his bio to the right. All clinics will be held from 5-7 pm at the Covenant Upper School on Sunday evenings. Dates run from April 6 through May 18. There will not be a clinic available on April 20 due to the Easter holiday. Details on the focus for each clinic are available below.

Walter Spurlock
CAVC Coach & UVA Women's Volleyball Technical Coordinator
Walter Spurlock is an experienced and well-rounded coach. He currently coaches CAVC's developmental programs, CAVonauts and CAValiers, as well as coaching a CAVC travel team. Spurlock also works with the University of Virginia Women's Volleyball program as their volunteer Technical Coordinator.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in data analytics from Eastern Mennonite University in 2024, where he also competed for two seasons on the Royals’ men’s volleyball team. As a pin hitter at EMU, he combined for 55 matches played and recorded more than 300 career kills. Prior to EMU, he was a member of the men’s program at King University from 2019-21.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Spurlock previously served as girls' volleyball assistant coach at the Collegiate School from 2021-22. Walter is passionate about instilling solid fundamentals and an enthusiasm for the sport of volleyball in young athletes. His knowledge of the sport and his natural coaching ability are a huge asset to the Charlottesville volleyball community.
